Netgear Orbi Setup and Configuration

#1 Open The Package

Check whether you have all the components of the router, like the Orbi Router (RBR850), Orbi Satellites (RBS850), power adapters, and Ethernet cables.

#2: Check the Position of the Router Placement

Find the central location of your home and position the router. Place it on a flat surface and keep it away from certain obstructions, preferably at eye level. Connect it to the power source.

#3: Connecting the Router

Use the Ethernet cable that you have received to connect the Orbi router to your modem or existing gateway. You connect one end of the cable to the WAN port and the other end of the cable to the modem.

#4: Plug in the Power Adapter to Turn On The Router

Plug it into the power adapter to turn on the Orbi router. Wait slightly for the router to fully reboot.

It may take a few minutes.

#5: Place the Orbi Satellite

Place it in the house or wherever you feel that you need to improve the WiFi connectivity. Ensure that it is turned on and connected to the socket.

#6: Connect Orbi Satellites to the Router

Wait for the Orbi router light to turn white, which indicates that it is connected to the satellites. Press the sync buttons on the satellites to connect to the router. The satellite turns blue once connected.

Tip to keep in mind

  • If the satellite turns amber, move the satellite a bit closer
  • If the satellite is turned Magenta, unplug the satellite and plug it back in
  • If nothing works, then press the sync button on the router and satellite.

The above steps show how you can connect your router to the satellite for better connectivity. In the next step, we can tell you how you can configure your router network right away.
