Hardware Setup

Here, we will explain all the steps needed for a successful hardware setup:

Unpack Your Router

Your package contains the router, the power adapter, four antennas, and an Ethernet cable.

Top Panel LEDs and Buttons

The status LEDs and various buttons are situated on the router’s top panel. Some of them are:

  • Power LED
  • Internet LED
  • Ethernet LEDs for ports 1–4
  • USB 3.0 port LED
  • WiFi LED
  • WPS LED

Rear Panel

The back panel consists of the following components:

  1. Reset Button: Pressing the Reset button will help you reset the router. If you push this button for at least 10 seconds and then the Power LED blinks, your router will reset to its factory settings.
  2. USB 3.0 Port: You can use the USB 3.0 port to attach the USB storage device.
  3. Ethernet Ports: These ports include four Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 LAN ports. You can use these ports to connect LAN devices with your router.
  4. Internet Port: You can use a single Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 WAN port for connecting the router to an Internet modem, such as a cable modem or DSL modem.
  5. DC Power Connector: Then, connect the power adapter. It is included in the product package for the DC power connector.
  6. Power On/Off Button: Lastly, to power your router, press the On/Off button.

Label of Your Router

The router’s label displays the login information, WiFi network name (SSID), password, serial number, and MAC address.

Fix and Align the Antennas

Attach the router antennas before installation. Note: If your router’s antennas do not have labels, they can be connected to any antenna port on the router. If the antennas have labels, match them to the labels on the router. Labeled antennas must be connected to the appropriate antenna port on the router.

Position Your Router

The router allows you to connect to your network from anywhere within its WiFi range. However, the working distance or range of your WiFi connection might vary greatly depending on the actual location of your router. In addition, set your router according to the suggestions below:

  1. Place your router in the middle of the area where your laptops and other devices function, and ensure that it has a clear line of sight with your WiFi gadgets.
  2. Place the router near an AC power outlet and Ethernet cables for wired PCs.
  3. Place the router in an elevated position to reduce the amount of walls and ceilings between it and your other devices.

The router should be kept away from electrical equipment like these:

  • Ceiling fans
  • home security systems
  • Microwaves Computers
  • Based on the cordless phone
  • Cordless phones with frequencies 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz

Keep the router away from big metal surfaces, glass surfaces, insulated walls, and objects like these:

  • Solid metal door
  • Aluminum studs
  • Fish tanks
  • Mirrors
  • Brick concrete

The following variables may reduce the range of your WiFi:

  • The thickness and quantity of barriers that the WiFi signal goes through might limit its range.
  • Other WiFi access points in and around your home may disrupt your router’s connection. WiFi access points include routers, repeaters, WiFi range extenders, and any other device that sends a WiFi signal for network access.

Cable Your Router

  1. Turn on your router and connect to a modem.
  2. To connect your router, unplug your modem. If your modem has a backup battery, remove and reinsert it before plugging it back in.
  3. You can use the Ethernet cable to connect the modem to the router’s yellow Internet port.
  4. Connect the power adapter to your router. Then, plug it into an outlet.
  5. Press the power On/Off button on the router’s rear panel. When the router is ready, the Power LED lights remain solid white.

Note: If you don’t need a modem for your Internet connection, connect your primary Ethernet cable to the router’s yellow Internet port instead.
